Apply Your DTF Transfers the Right Way

To get the best results from your DTF Colorado transfers, it’s critical to follow proper heat press settings and application steps.

👉 Incorrect application is the #1 cause of peeling, cracking, or bubbling.

🔥 Recommended Heat Press Settings

  • Temperature: 300–325°F
  • Time: 10–15 seconds
  • Pressure: Medium to firm

👉 Every heat press is different — always test before production

🧾 Step-by-Step Application

Step 1: Prepare the Garment

  • Place garment on heat press
  • Pre-press for 5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles

Step 2: Position the Transfer

  • Place transfer in desired location
  • Ensure it is flat and aligned properly

Step 3: First Press

  • Press at 300–325°F for 10–15 seconds
  • Use medium to firm pressure

Step 4: Peel the Film

  • Allow to cool slightly (warm peel recommended)
  • Peel smoothly and evenly

👉 Do not rush this step

Step 5: Second Press (VERY IMPORTANT)

  • Cover with parchment paper or Teflon sheet
  • Press again for 5–10 seconds

👉 This step locks in durability and improves finish

👕 Fabric Compatibility

DTF transfers work best on:

  • Cotton
  • Polyester
  • Cotton/poly blends

👉 Always test on specialty fabrics before full production

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

❌ Not using enough pressure
❌ Incorrect temperature
❌ Skipping second press
❌ Using uncalibrated heat press
❌ Peeling too fast or too early

👉 These will cause peeling, bubbling, or poor adhesion

🚫 Do NOT Use

  • Household irons
  • Cricut Easy Press or similar devices

👉 A professional heat press is required for proper results

🔧 Troubleshooting Guide

Transfer Peeling After Pressing

  • Increase pressure
  • Make sure temperature is accurate
  • Always do second press

Bubbling or Lifting

  • Not enough pressure
  • Heat press not evenly distributed
  • Skipped second press

Dull or Washed-Out Look

  • Temperature too low
  • Press time too short

Adhesion Issues on Fabric

  • Fabric may not be compatible
  • Increase pressure and time slightly
